Atlantis Brand Smoked Fish Dip Recalled For Listeria Contamination

Neco Foods is recalling 231 cases of Atlantis Brand Smoked Fish Dip because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Listeria monocytogene is a bacterium member of the Listeria family which can cause symptoms that appear similar to flu and may include headache, stiffness, a high fever, and nausea.

This type of bacterial contamination is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.

Below is a list of the recalled products:

    • 7 ounce, Atlantis brand, Smoked Fish Dip in a clear plastic container marked with Lot # 048 on bottom, with an expiration date of April 23, 2009. UPC code: 0 3469611124 5

    • 32 ounce, Atlantis brand, Smoked Fish Dip in a clear plastic container marked with Lot # 048 on bottom, with an expiration date of April 23, 2009. UPC code: 0 3469611134 4

    • 5 pound, Atlantis brand, Smoked Fish Dip in a white plastic container marked with Lot # 048 on the lid, with an expiration date of April 23, 2009. No UPC code. Foodservice distribution, not for retail sale.

There have been no reported cases of illness in connection with the recall.

Every year in the United States an estimated 1,850 people become ill with Listeriosis. On average, 425 people die from the condition.

Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled products can return them to the place of purchase to receive a full refund.
